What Is A Drug & Alcohol Assessment Test

If you or a loved one is addicted to drugs or alcohol it is important to call a processional drug and alcohol specialist immediately. We have a free 24-hour alcohol addiction and drug addiction hotline with rehab specialists standing. Call Now 866-577-6868

General personal information will be supplied such as address, phone number, social security number, social and economic background, and emergency contact information. This information will be used to start file for the individual that wishes to enter a rehabilitation program.

The individual will be asked to recall the events and feelings that caused him or her to seek help and treatment options. This is important because it will show the emotional stand to get clean.

Family history will be discussed, especially the history of drug use and what types. Immediate family will be covered also, such as if the individual's spouse, children or siblings are also using drugs. Since the money made by an individual addict to a substance tends to go toward that substance rather than to his or her family, finances will also be talked about.

During the drug and alcohol assessment, the individual will be asked to report any medical problems and medications. All of these will be documented, past and present.

Educational background. It is important to know what type of education the individual has received, whether high school has been completed or not, GED, or if they went to college.

The clinician running the drug and alcohol assessment test will be documenting any psychological and/or behavioral problems the individual may have talked about or that are evident from their behavior. Verbal responses and observable behaviors will be recorded, such as whether the individual is aggressive or passive as well as other physical symptoms of withdrawal that may already be apparent.

The actual history of the individual's drug use will be recorded, such as when and where drug were taken for the first time, and who they do them with now. The first experience with drugs is often with people that the individual trusts, so it is important that these things be discussed and looked into with detail.

The individual's correlation with drugs and social life will be examined. A person's support system usually comes only from family in a drug abuse situation, but it is important to realize who else is important in their life and who is contributing to their addiction.

As well as social support, work is a place where the individual is noticed and cared about. If the individual has become more interested in taking drugs, the workplace will notice based on their work performance and interaction with coworkers.

All legal problems will be discussed – past and present. Often problems related to drug use include arrest, DWI's, child neglect, robbery and aggression. These problems may be motivators in the rehabilitation process for the individual, and it is important to see the individual's emotional stand on all that has happened to them because of the drugs and/or alcohol.

If you feel that you or a loved one is suffering because of drug or alcohol abuse, try taking a drug and alcohol assessment test to see where you stand. These tests not only help you discover the roots of your problem, but they help the medical professionals get an idea of how to create the best and most effective program for your personal needs.
